Queen Anne's Lace

We have to post about the royals! With all the excitement over William and Kate, I thought it only fitting we do a post on the royals. Only with a different twist. Daucus Carota is the royal we will be discussing! This flower has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. It is fancy and delicate looking. Of course, I always saw it in a 'weed' like environment growing wild alongside the road.

I bumped into these while shopping for some flowers for a potshot and couldn't resist. I love the green and white colors for summer as well, they are fresh and inspiring.

beauties. whenever i see it i hear a line from my children's beloved anne of green gables. diana says to anne, "that's the last of the queen anne's lace for the summer, anne…" (similarly when noticing my messy kitchen i have mary poppins speak up with "rather inclined to giggle and doesn't put things away.")

I make a jelly from Queen Anne's Lace. I'll be making this year's batch next week. Let me know if you'd like the recipe, my email is deannanfox@gmail.com, or check out my blog www.thesillygoosefarm.blogspot.com! All the best, Deanna.
I have always loved Queen Anne's lace! Recently read about the "Mushroom House" in Pittsford NY that was inspired by "a coke bottle with a flowering sprig of Queen Anne's lace." Architect James Johnson. Built about 40 years ago. I don't think the resulting house captured the ethereal gossamer beauty of QAL.
