We’ve just returned from vacation to a sweltering hot New York City. It’s hot, like real hot! Summertime in the city can feel like a pizza oven, with the radiating heat off the cement and buildings, from all sides. What better way to cool down than a home made milkshake?
Here is a simple recipe for milkshakes. We use a 3/1 ratio so you can increase the recipe or decrease to suit the number of people you are making milkshakes for.
Milkshake Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 big scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup of milk
- splash of vanilla
- 1 table spoon of sugar (optional, we prefer it without)
Chocolate variation
- Add unsweetened cocoa to taste
Directions
- Put all the ingredients in a blender until smooth.
Recipe Notes: We love to use Haagan Dazs 5 vanilla ice cream, and of course I think this fancy vanilla, Tahitian Pure Vanilla, goes well with the mild flavor of the vanilla ice cream. I bake with Droste brand of cocoa and it gives the chocolate milkshake a nice grown up chocolate flavor, rather than an over sweetened version.
