Green beans are in season, even the purple ones! What a wonderful surprise at the market last weekend when we came upon purple beans.
The color is so rich and lovely, like a vintage velvet. As for the taste, I don't really see much of a difference, so you can always substitute when available. Susan decided to make a batch of mixed color dilly beans, using the purple and green varieties. These are fantastic on their own, but even better in Bloody Mary's.
